Drug Abuse Treatment Center - Making The Right Choice

Friday, 28 June 2013

Choosing a drug abuse treatment center is an important decision. Not just another hospital treating a disease, the drug abuse treatment center is an important element in helping an addict overcome addiction and develop an ongoing strategy toward preventing a relapse. Forcing an addict to admit to a treatment center is rarely successful, and neither are purely mechanical or chemical treatments likely to prevent further abuse. Instead, the ideal drug abuse treatment center will recognize that focusing on patients regaining their sense of self-esteem, and respecting their pride and dignity will result in a much more successful treatment. The most effective treatment centers will target their program around the core issues of mutual respect and understanding, and allow the addict to regain their sense of self.

The Hidden Impact

Drug Abuse comes in many forms. It can be used to describe athletes using performance enhancing substances, overuse of a prescription medicine, as well as alcohol abuse and use of illegal narcotics. Dependency operates on both a physical and an emotional level, and leaves addicts incapable of relating to anything other than their intense desire for further use. Addictions often destroy families, friendships, and careers. In addition to altering their personality and affecting their lifestyle, habitual use often leads to kidney and liver failure, increased risk of infectious disease, and a general breakdown of health and vitality. It is estimated that over 28 million Americans are abusing drugs.

Treatment Center Options

Each drug abuse treatment center will have its own approach to overcoming addiction. Also, each treatment will need to be tailored not only to the specific form, but also to the addict himself. For example, the treatment for a heroin addiction will differ from that for alcohol dependency, just as the treatment of a happy-go-lucky alcoholic will differ from the treatment of a suicidal alcohol abuser.

Choosing the right drug abuse treatment center can be an overwhelming experience, particularly if the addict is without support of friends and family. Preparing a list of questions to ask, and calling several different centers will give an overview of the type of treatment available. There should be a professional, trained staff with a good track record of successful recoveries. The facilities themselves should be clean and safe, preferably with an atmosphere that will help facilitate the addict's recovery.

Detoxification will be the main objective in the first part of the treatment. By eliminating the toxins from the addict's body, withdrawal symptoms will be decreased, and the patient will start to feel in control of themselves in the process. It is crucial that the drug abuse treatment center have a professional, trained staff to deal with this traumatic element of the process. Depending on the drug, the first stages of withdrawal can be a tremendous physical and psychological ordeal. The facility should be well equipped to handle all aspects of the detoxification, and should provide a safe and controlled environment in which the patient can recover and move on to the next stage.

The recovery process is an ongoing aspect in the treatment of drug abuse. The drug abuse treatment center will help the recovering addict to regain a sense of control over their life, and provide them with mental tools to support themselves once they are ready to leave the facility and get back into the world. Again, a personal touch is important as each addict will experience recovery in his or her own way. Friends and family are important at this time, and reconnecting with them can be a critical step in recovery. Sometimes, the loss of trust is so acute that it can be difficult to find friends and family willing to help in the recovery. A good drug abuse treatment center will help bridge the gap, and get the much needed support the recovering addict needs.

The effective drug abuse treatment center is one which recognizes the addict as a real person, with a real problem. At their core, they should understand that increasing a patient's sense of self-esteem, and providing an atmosphere of dignity and respect are critical to a successful recovery. At the same time, they must be prepared to deal with all aspects of the difficult drug withdrawal and detoxification phase, and be able to provide the patient with the psychological tools they will need to deal with life 'on the outside'. Also, they should be able to facilitate healing damage between family and friends, and enlisting their help in the ongoing recovery process.

The drug abuse treatment center is a cornerstone to helping a recovering addict to beat the addiction and find their way back into their life.

Health Care System Or Sick Care System?

Wednesday, 26 June 2013

Just in case you planned to exercise your freedom of choice and want out of this broken down system of drugs-and-surgery sick care insurance, lawmakers have blocked the exit. They've built in enormous financial punishments for people who decline to buy sick-care insurance. Hence, people who really take forethought of their health and require no health insurance can be handled as crooks and pushed to pay fines to an industry they don't defend nor want.

If we simply had an honorable health care system centered on nutrition, disease prevention and patient education, Instead, we possess a system focused on medication, radiation, vaccines and chemo that not only ruin human health, but also damage the environment at the same time (where do you think all of those meds go when they get flushed down the drain?). Personally, for me to financially back such a system would be a infringement of my allegiance to preserving human health and Mother Nature.

Our sick-care system is beyond broke to fix. It's time to stop flirting around the edge of an answer and get honest about what it would require to create health and stop disease. That will mean a huge repair of our sick-care system, and it will anger a lot of powerful corporations whose profits depend totally on the expansion of disease. The intention of the sick-care system is to feed corporations, it's not to make you well. Here is your wake-up "smell the coffee" call, there is too much money to be made in sickness.

It is insanity to try to fix a broken system by aggressively expanding that system so that it harms a far larger group of people. You can't slap a Band-Aid on this problem and call it resolved. You have to reform this from the inside out. But thanks to the influence of corporate money on lawmakers and politicians, there is simply no political will in this current administration to pursue meaningful reform.

So what does this all mean? It's time to be proactive with our own health. The money you can save each year by not buying health insurance can be used to buy can be used to buy organic foods, supplements and health products, a juicer, to keep you healthy, both mentally and physically.

A gun-in-your-face sick-care system that forces people to pay money into a broken system of corrupt, criminally-operated medical scams like psychiatric medications or even mammograms, which have been proven to actually cause far more cancers than they prevent, is not in your best interest. Laetrile works in fighting cancer, yet if you want laetrile therapy you will have to outside the country. If a parent seeks the alternative other than chemo or radiation treatments for cancer, they will be regarded as criminal.

United States is a great nation, and freedom is at the core. A lot of blood has been shed for this freedom, just thinking we deserve the right to choose.

This is an Effective Mental Health Therapy Aid

Saturday, 22 June 2013

Vitamin D, a fat soluble nutrient found in oily fish, eggs, vitamin fortified foods like milk, cereals and drinks, or naturally received from sunlight might act as an effective mental health therapy aid by helping hold off the mental decline that can affect people as they age - this according to the latest research efforts of a team of British and U.S. scientists.

This vital nutrient is also known to be important in keeping bones healthy and helping strengthen the immune system.

It's even been linked to the prevention of cancers like colon, breast and ovarian.

Yet many of us don't get enough.

The recommended intake of vitamin D is 600 IU a day, though a more accurate recommendation is that both children and adults get at least 1000 IU per day.

Eating a diet with the right amount of vitamin D isn't the easiest thing to do. This is why supplements have become so popular.

What's more, as we age, our skin is less able to absorb vitamin D from the sun, so older people depend more on food sources (or supplements) for this key nutrient.

Vitamin D deficiency affects an estimated 50% of adults and children in the United States, so it's a widespread problem.

Beyond our difficulty getting enough vitamin D through diet, we all spend our time in the sun lathered in sunscreen. Wearing sunscreens of SPF 15 is known to block almost all vitamin D synthesis by the skin.

Not only older adults, but anyone who is obese or overweight are also naturally less able to make vitamin D from sunlight.

Earlier studies have suggested that vitamins may have a beneficial effect on our cognitive function, and we also know that if you have impaired cognitive function you're more likely to develop dementia.

Diet is also considered an important influence on dementia risk - a balanced diet, regular exercise and lots of social interaction are believed to be key to keeping this debilitating, life altering condition at bay.

The team of researchers from the Peninsula Medical School in Exeter, the University of Cambridge and the University of Michigan, looked at 2,000 people over age 65.

They measured vitamin D levels via blood work as well as asking volunteers to complete a test designed to assess mental decline. The subjects used in the work had taken part in the Health Survey for England, completed in 2000.

Just over 200 of the study participants were found to have significant cognitive impairment, the team saw that those with lower vitamin D levels were at least two times more likely to have impaired thinking. As levels of vitamin D went down, levels of cognitive impairment went up.

The paper detailing the study appears in the December 2008 issue of the Journal of Geriatric Psychology and Neurology. Of course more work is needed to solidify the relationship between vitamin D and keeping the aging brain healthy and vibrant. Still this is a good start.

Dr. Iain Lang of the Peninsula Medical School in Exeter points out, "Given the growing burden of care associated with dementia, even if it reduced 10 per cent of dementia, it would make a massive difference. The amount that's contained in a regular multi-vitamin tablet is fine."

So if you're in your middle years and concerned about your dementia risk, being sure you get enough vitamin D from your diet, or exposure to natural sunlight, can help as an effective mental health therapy aid keeping you sharp for years to come.

Drug Abuse - Do Not Get Addicted

Tuesday, 18 June 2013

Any kind of excessive intake of performance enhancing drugs apart from medical treatment is generally termed as drug abuse. It has many other ranges of definitions and corresponding explanations. Even the intake of alcohol can be termed under drug misuse, as excessive alcohol intake will lead to many social problems. Drug abusers are having the high risk of committing suicide, as it causes physiological twist of the brain's chemistry that might lead him or her to take the extreme step.

Drug abuse and alcohol abuse are the main reasons for a person's social problems; it mainly leads to isolation and lack of proper care. There is a danger that even a prescribed drug when taken in a proportion greater that what was specified can lead to the same result. There are cases where the impacts caused by the drug misuse would remain even after a longer period of detoxification; some would even last for months.

Drug abuse affects the central nervous system and which in turn may lead to an impact on the person's mental stability. There is other kind of drugs that affects not the nervous system but other parts of the human body. Generally these drugs are addictive in nature and will stimulate the user to long for it. Thus, making it difficult to rehabilitate someone, who is already addicted to using these drugs for a long period of time? Drug abuse damages the brain cells and would result in a permanent effect on the person's behavior. Drug overdose can also lead to death sometimes. The common drugs that are abused are way too expensive and this is the reason that, this habit is most common among celebrities and people of high society where money is not a big matter. Drug abuse is related to illegal drugs and will mostly be smuggled into the country without the knowledge of the government. This has been a primary concern in many nations and they are still finding different ways to stop this. The two main reasons which are quoted by those people who practice drug abuse are for fun and to enhance performance. The wealthy people and the teenagers do it for fun, as it makes them go into a state of mental instability there by giving a feel of flying as they say. The other set of people who indulge in drug abuse are the sports stars that do it to enhance their performance, as they get a sudden burst of energy.

Drugs are produced for curing the diseases and other complications in the field of medical science, but when it is used for any other purpose we call it as abuse. If people who indulge in drug abuse are not rehabilitated and are made to lead normal life, they would end up in a coffin or any mental institution.

Prevention of drug abuse has to begin at the level of a home; the government can take various steps to stop it. However it is very important that we take care of our family members and avoid that states that might lead them to bad situations like these.

The Value of Massage Therapy

Sunday, 16 June 2013

Massage therapy addresses the "whole person" by direct contact which creates a form of validation of the individual unlike any other health care modality. It is a natural, effective and drugless treatment to improve, restore and maintain a healthy state in the body, with minimal adverse effects. No other modality or professional has an extensive " hands on" approach that can be seen more apparent, than massage therapy. Other professions have a narrow view of the patient, in respect to the holistic model and time with the patient, giving the massage therapy profession, the most effective hands on care available in the medical health care system. Yet it seems the consumer and the insurance company has a narrow limited view of the profession. Cost is a driving factor for most consumers especially when the individual is having to pay out of pocket expenses that are limited or not covered by insurance. Value is associated by most, by cost. One has to consider the application and utilization of the time to further qualify value. Value for time, not just cost needs to be re-evaluated in the health care system.

Health care is on the minds of most people, whether they have it, need it, or don't have the right policy due to financial infeasibility, to acquire or maintain it. Unfortunately when it comes to health, if you don't invest in it now, you pay for it later, as the investment of our bodies seem to yield higher rates of health issue returns to our lives as we age. As it stands now, preventative health is not recognized under most health insurance policies unless it comes in the form of exams in the context of a physical and or lab testing, which is a great start to establish a good base line of health.

But so much of our health is within the content of what we utilize it, in the continuum of the human condition of life, environment (acquired as outside environment or internal from stress, poor body mechanics, and just wear and tear) as well as genetics. We all, at some point in time in our lives, experience the decline of the body system; be it, an injury, thereby requiring surgery and rehabilitation,or age, in the form of compensation, compression, genetics, habits and accumulation of repetitive motion, dysfunction, actions, traumas and toxins.

When we treat the body what are we affecting? Is there a model, and is it holistic in it's approach? Does this model exist within the insurance model?

When we treat the body we in essence, should be treating the individual, not just isolating the dysfunction, disease or trauma. After all, these ailments do not, nor should they consist in the total-ness of any one being; it is just the experience they are expressing in their life at the current time. Disease, is as the word is broken down, is really the lack of ease in the body. It is out of balance.

When it comes to insurance coverage, it is a model to achieve functionality prior to any onset, outside of what was once normal.

I have not seen a model demonstrate the value of direct hands on attention to an individual with the time of equal or great power, than massage therapy. And yet it still comes up short, in regards to reimbursements and acknowledgment of in the medical field. I would like to challenge any person to dispute this fact, and yet no health care professional would consider taking 1 hour to be with their patient and really connect with them, where they see them not just a disease or diagnosis but as an individual. I have heard that it is not cost effective to spent that length of time on each patient. Therein lies part of the problem, yet every practitioner has the right to extend their services and acquire the ability to make a living at their trade. Policies are in place to reach the maximum amount of patients in the most cost effective means, especially when the population and aging health concerns are on the rise. Who reaps these benefits and who pays for these policies? Think about this the next time you cost compare time, experience, cost of doing business and your health.

What Is Touch for Health Therapy?

Friday, 14 June 2013

Changes are part of our lives that we can't stop or alter in the course we want them to be. The same goes with our health, it degenerates as we grow older each day. The more we age, the more it becomes prone to all sorts of sickness and diseases. Our vessel also becomes fragile and weak as the days goes by. However, we can slow down the process and fight off illness with massage therapy.

Touch for health is one therapy that is known as a therapeutic massage that uses muscle manipulation by testing to find weak muscles. It is known as a branch of applied kinesiology designed for ordinary people to understand and implement on their family and friends. The techniques used in this type of massage therapy are quite simple and easy to learn, understand, and practice. Touch for health uses combined knowledge and elements found in Western medicine, bodywork, and traditional Chinese medicine. All of these components are blended to form a basic type of therapeutic massage that can be utilized and enjoyed by anyone who needs to have treatment. The therapy doesn't require the learner to be knowledgeable in physical therapy in order to understand the techniques.

The technique uses muscle testing on the affected areas to assess and search for weak muscle groups. The practitioner then works on the strong muscles surrounding the fragile ones in the goal of strengthening and regaining their optimum condition. Muscle testing is constantly performed during the massage therapy in order to get a good idea of the progress of the massage therapy.

Its history can be traced to Dr. George Goodheart's discovery on the effect and benefits when certain muscles were massaged. He noticed changes in the weak and affected muscles whenever he conducts massage works on the strong muscles connected to the frail ones. This led to the development of the system known today as applied kinesiology.

The idea though wasn't complete, not until Dr. Goodheart worked with John Thie who was also a chiropractor. Both were diligent and determined in developing a technique using the idea of applied kinesiology on a simpler level that can be understood and learned by everyone. Their goal was to create a massage therapy method that can be practiced and conducted by individuals without proper training and education on physical therapy. Later on, this systematic approach in therapeutic massage education was successfully developed and became known as the new kinesiology Touch for Health.

The therapy session usually begins with the client lying down or sitting on somewhere comfortable and relaxing as the practitioner starts with the evaluation of the muscles. Although it can also be done while standing, most patients prefer to sit down or lay down to avoid discomfort. The therapy doesn't require the use for massage oil, thus the need for undressing is also unnecessary in a touch for health therapy session. The benefits of this therapy are all similar to those of applied kinesiology as it is only a branch of the therapeutic massage.

A Million Children Are Growing Up Without Fathers

Wednesday, 12 June 2013

A new report by on family breakdown by the Centre for Social Justice says that a million children are growing up without a father in their lives.

The report says lone parent families are increasing by more than 20,000 a year, and will top two million by the next general election.

In some areas fatherlessness has reached such high levels that they are virtual "men deserts" and it accuses politicians on all sides of a "feeble" response.

The report says the number of single parent households has been rising steadily over the past 40 years, and that now 3m children are growing up predominantly with their mothers.

The absence of fathers is linked to higher rates of teenage crime, pregnancy and disadvantage, the report says, warning that the UK is experiencing a "tsunami" of family breakdown.

And it highlights areas of the UK with very high levels of lone parent households - although this does not necessarily mean the children living in them have no contact with their fathers.

The report is due to be released this week. You can read the full press release here: http://www.centreforsocialjustice.org.uk/UserStorage/pdf/Press%20releases%202013/CSJ-Press-Release-Lone-Parents.pdf

Silent Study Space At Bedford Polhill

We are aiming to keep disruption to a minimum but from 10th June 2013 and throughout the summer, access to Level 2 may be fully or partially closed while building work takes place. This small amount of disruption will result in an improved study environment for the beginning of the new academic year.

Health, Fitness & Weight Loss - A Great Theme For Starting a Small Business - How to Tips

It seems like everybody is into health and fitness these days. Paid advertising programs on television show beautiful people who don't look like they need to exercise, working out and eating healthy, presumably to tell the rest of us that we can look and feel like them. There's nothing wrong with that. Society needs fitness role models so that others can model themselves after them. The fact is, however, that the majority of people don't go to the gym or eat well balanced meals.

Part of the problem is because people are just so busy. The other part is that many simply don't have the desire or the energy to take care of themselves the way that they should. This is ever the more reason to seriously consider starting a business that focuses on people's health. People need to know that there are products now on the market that can give their bodies many of the vitamins and minerals that their diets lack. For those of you who are thinking about starting a business and making money, the health, nutrition and weight loss field is one that can give you the market niche to substantially change your financial outlook and to help change people's lives for the better.

Starting a business can be very costly. Initial investments can run anywhere from a few thousand to over several hundred thousand dollars. Luckily, however, there are several health and nutrition companies, often referred to as hybrid or network marketing companies, that look for budding entrepreneurs to market their products for them. They require very little start-up fees, offer free training and support, a free website, access to distribution centers worldwide, and compensation plans that are very lucrative. In today's health conscious society many people are interested in taking better care of themselves. The health, fitness and weight loss theme could be just the right approach to starting a business that can benefit all those involved. Check out some of these companies online. Maybe one of them will share your values and philosophy, and be a place where your interests, abilities and passions find a home.

Identifying Drug Abuse in the Workplace

Saturday, 8 June 2013

Drug abuse and its impact within the workplace is quite significant. Not only is it a problem to the substance abuser, but it then also becomes your problem as there is an increase in the risk of accidents, productivity is decreased and it can also cost your business financially. These employees are working at a minimal capacity and increase the workload for other staff. They can be a risk in the production process, comprising the quality of the product and even risking the company's reputation. Being able to identify whether someone is suffering from drug abuse is not always clear cut, but you can purchase drug testing kits that can help.

Clearly some who is addicted to heroin or cocaine suffers from drug abuse, as does someone who regularly uses marijuana. Drug abuse can also include those addicted to prescription drugs or pain killers. Basically it includes the use of any type of drug that threatens a persons mental or physical health, affects their behaviour and their relationships, and jeopardises their safety, or anyone else's, in the workplace. Drug abusers do not just have to be physically dependent on drugs, it can also include psychological dependency too.

Someone dependent on drugs does not have to be using them at work for them to have a negative effect. It has been shown that drug abusers are ten times more likely to be absent and they are almost four times more likely to be involved in accidents at work. They are also more of a risk when it comes to causing accidents. They are five times as likely to file for a workers compensation claim and are less productive. Operating any kind of machinery under the influence increases the risk of accidents and the threat of fatalities.

Signs of drug abuse can be difficult to identify but there are certain things you can watch for if you think a member of your staff is using drugs.

Frequently missing work

An employee who is missing from work often and with no explanation is worth keeping an eye on. It may not be something as serious as drug abuse but it could be some other problem that this employee may need help with.

An employee who is involved in an unusually high number of accidents could be effected by drugs. All accidents and injuries should be documented, so keep track of the frequency of these types of mishaps and see if there is a pattern.

Erratic behaviour

The employee may be quite erratic in their work behaviour, being really productive one day but then for the next few days gets nothing done. If you keep a watch on it you may find a pattern beginning to emerge. They also may react badly to criticism or become uncharacteristically aggressive towards other staff members.

Physical signs

These should be the most obvious clues. If your employee is showing any physical signs, such as exhaustion, dilated pupils, slurred speech, they are unsteady on their feet or they are hyperactive, they just might be suffering from drug abuse.

What to do

If you suspect one of your employees is using drugs you need to address the problem. If you have someone on staff who is qualified to do this then put the necessary steps in place and have them approach the employee. If you don't have anyone on staff then it is best to contact a qualified professional who can address the problem further.

Improving Health and through Kinesiology and Alternative Medicine

Thursday, 6 June 2013

People sometimes say to me: "Kinesiology? That's muscle
testing isn't it?"

I often laugh and say "It is, and it isn't. It's
that, and so much more."

A natural therapy that originated in the 1960s, Kinesiology has
brought life changing benefits to those experiencing depression, stress,
anxiety, nervous tension, excessive worry, learning difficulties -
and on a more physical level: pain, migraines, muscular disorders,
nervous system disorders, immune system deficiencies, hormonal
imbalances, digestive disorders (like Irritable Bowel Syndrome),
allergies, women's health, and candida infections.

Kinesiology uses gentle muscle testing to gather information about
your state of wellbeing, and about the stress and dis-ease in your
system. To do so, it relies on the bio-feedback mechanisms between your
muscles and your central nervous system. This is only one of many
qualities that makes it a unique alternative health therapy.

Kinesioloogy is unique also because it creates, and honours, the
space for your own body & spirit to direct the course of treatment.
Using muscle testing, your practitioner "communicates" with
your bio-systems; exploring the underlying cause of your health issue.
In this way, your practitioner can create a health solution for you that
is uniquely your own.

The change you are looking for might be a physical one, or an
emotional one. In either case, Kinesiology is particularly effective for
those wishing to change a certain area of their life.

For example, one of my clients wanted to increase her confidence in
social situations. After just one session, she found herself immediately
experiencing a greater sense of ease, comfort and confidence in talking
with others. In subsequent sessions, she found herself experiencing a
greater sense of ease in just being herself. She also experienced the
feeling of wholeness, of being connected with her heart and her soul.
She felt that her life had been enriched on a deeper level, that she was
happy and well.

Kinesiology is effective because it gives you an understanding of
how your behaviour, attitudes and world views are based on core beliefs
and deep patterns - which you may not question or even know you
have. With the client I've just mentioned, her core issues were
about connecting and listening to her heart, so that she could engage
with others ways that were more meaningful and fulfilling for her.

Kinesiology enables you to see these core beliefs and deep patterns,
and challenge them so that you can change your life significantly and
positively - in the way that you want.

A good kinesiologist will also create a space for you to recognise
how you can be empowered, how you can actually make the changes that you
want. This is a lot easier than if you were just struggling with it

If you have a physical health issue, Kinesiology gives you an
understanding of the emotional, nutritional and energetic factors that
underly the physical factors of your dis-ease (whether it is your immune
system or your nervous system). This enables you to move faster towards
a healing.

How can your kinesiologist do all this? How can Kinesiology have
such broad ranging success?

First of all, Kinesiology does not heal you. Your Kinesiologist
simply facilitates a journey for you, in which you heal yourself. Your
Kinesiologist restores and re-connects you with your body and
mind's innate ability to find balance, homeostasis. The idea of
your self-healing potential can be found in ancient Western &
Eastern medical traditions - ranging from Hippocrates to the Nei

Secondly, Kinesiologists are trained in a wide range of modalities

  • anatomy, physiology, biochemistry
  • counselling & psychology
  • chinese medicine psycho-spirituality
  • flower essences
  • esoteric sciences (chakra system, bio-field or auric systems).

This training equips them with many strategies for dealing with your
health and wellbeing issue.

Supplements for Health, Fitness and Longevity Include a Range of Chinese Teas

Tuesday, 4 June 2013

Tea's origin was China. The Zhuo (1034-246 BCE) Qin (361-296 BCE) and Han (206 BCE-226 CE) Dynasties all embodied extensive tea-drinking. Tea use for medicinal nutritional, health, fitness and longevity purposes is determined via the 'Wuxing' or 5 Elements School system underpinning (TCM) Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, Massage, Health Qigong, Feng Shui, Keep-fit, Wu-Shu-Kung Fu, Chinese herb-use and more.

Chinese tea, purchased in boxes of sachets or in delightful crystallised blocks involves an astounding number of forms tastes, textures, herbal and nutritional ingredients. Applications-including for health, youthfulness and longevity are guaranteed by the long history of TCM. The history of the 5 Elements or 'Wuxing' is longer still.

Tea, Health and the Wuxing

The 5 Elements School 'Wuxing' links each of the body's 5 major internal organs (and much more) to Elements as follows: spleen (Earth) lungs (Metal) kidneys (Water) liver (Wood) and heart (Fire). The Wuxing is a proven internal and external balancing health-system. Many teas involve remedies to cure or prevent common complaints, or encourage optimum health, youthfulness and longevity springing from the 5 Elements system still in popular and official use today.

This chrysanthemum tea comprises 45% dried flower extract crystallised upon 55% cane sugar. Health Fitness And Performance Skyrockets With Hydration

Saturday, 1 June 2013

Health fitness and performance is on the minds of anyone who invests their precious time exercising. Let's face it, people want fitness results; and they want them right now! One of the most overlooked variables for improving fitness performance is proper hydration. How many times do you hear a fitness enthusiast say they need to hydrate themselves prior to, and during exercise to improve fitness performance? Not many!

The fact is studies show 46% of people beginning a workout session are not optimally hydrated. The fitness buffs who are not properly hydrated are more prone to have health fitness and performance difficulties. Another words, they simply can't workout at the same efficiency level someone who is optimally hydrated can. What suffers most is intensity, and duration of exercise training.

Some researchers suggest those constantly out of hydration balance may show an increase risk of kidney stones, infections, cancer, and other diseases. Amongst all these possible results seen is also a decrease in athletic performance which leads to rather poor fitness results.

Are you drinking enough fluid to positively affect your health fitness and performance? The average sedentary human being drinks about 16 cups (men), and 11 cups (women) of fluid each day. Now the keyword here is sedentary. If you are a fitness workout warrior training at a high intensity, in a hot environment, you will most definitely need to improve your hydration. According to studies, sedentary people have a tendency to get enough fluid. It is the exercise participants who are at risk.

If you enter the gym not properly hydrated, and continue to dehydrate yourself by perspiring throughout the workout, there are many physiological ramifications. Your fitness performance and results will suffer due to a reduction in blood volume, thicker blood, an increased heart rate, and greater difficulty for you body to lose heat.

So how do you maintain optimal fluid balance during fitness training sessions? Below I have listed the top strategies to maintain optimal hydration, thus, improving your health fitness and performance.

1. Make sure you are properly hydrated before you begin your fitness workout. A good rule of thumb is to observe color of your urine. If your urine is dark like apple juice, you are not adequately hydrated. Very white like water is a sign of over hydration. However, if your urine is pale, not dark, you are most likely in water balance.

2. During exercise, pay close attention to the amount of fluid you lose. It is important to replace it during the exercise session. Yes, you can wait until after exercise, but your health fitness and performance will thank you if you consume fluids while training.

3. Don't wait until you get thirsty. I recommend consuming a small amount of fluids prior to, during, and following intense physical exercise. Your bodyweight should be close to the same before, during, and after workouts.

4. The greater the exercise intensity, and duration, the more fluids are needed. Pay close attention to your perspiration rate, and the weather conditions.

What are the best fluids to consume for maintaining optimal water balance? The general rule of thumb is low intensity exercises like walking in mild weather calls for water. When exercise demand is increased to moderate levels, fitness water is recommended for peak health fitness and performance. When your exercise demands are very high, sports drinks such as Gatorade are the preferred fuel. Sports drinks are comprised of a small amount of carbohydrates, electrolytes, and flavor enhancers. Thus, the higher the exercise intensity, duration, environmental conditions, and sweat rate, the more concentrated fluid is needed for replenishment. Not all hydration products are created equal. So pick the ones for the proper exercise demands, and sweat loss. Your goals should be to only replace the fluid lost. Don't over saturate yourself with fluids.

Just by following the advice in this article and maintaining proper water balance, your health fitness and performance will be positively improved. Think fluids, they are a fitness performance and results catalyst.
